Tuhat ja yksi valoa on noin 5 m x 5 m kokoinen reliefi. Teos on nähtävillä päiväkodin ruokailutilasta, toisen kerroksen huoneista ja ulkoa. Teos muuttuu kunkin valaistusolosuhteen mukaan. Teokseen kuuluu suunnittelemani puulatikko, missä on leikkejä varten samanlaisia puupalikoita, joista reliefi muodostuu. | A Thousand and One Lights is a relief measuring approximately 5 m x 5 m. The work can be viewed from the daycare center’s dining area, the rooms on the second floor, and from outside. The work changes depending on the lighting conditions. The work includes a wooden box I designed, which contains wooden blocks similar to those used in the relief.

Päiväkoti Koivistoisen julkinen taide on erityistä siksi, että lastenkulttuurikeskus Kruunupään kuvataiteilijoilla oli mahdollisuus olla mukana prosessin alkuvaiheessa yhteistyössä rakennuttajan ja arkkitehdin kanssa. Yhdessä valokuvataiteilija Päivi Setälän kanssa suunnittelimme lasten ja aikuisten tilojen käytävien lattiakuviot, ruokalan ja neuvottelutilan akustiikkaseinät ja koko rakennuksen lasipintojen huomioteippaukset. | The public art at the Koivistoinen daycare center is special because the visual artists at the Kruunupää Children’s Cultural Center had the opportunity to be involved in the early stages of the process in collaboration with the builder and architect. Together with photographer Päivi Setälä, we designed the floor patterns for the corridors in the children’s and adults’ areas, the acoustic walls in the dining area and meeting room, and the decorative warning tapes on the glass surfaces throughout the building.

Ajatustila on viidesluokkalaisten lasten suunnittelema ja toteuttama julkinen teos, joka toteutettiin ohjauksessani yhdessä koulun henkilökunnan ja terveydenhuoltohenkilökunnan kanssa koululla sijaitsevaan odotustilaan. Tilassa odotetaan pääsyä kuraattorille, lääkärille ja terveydenhoitajalle ja teos vastasi tarpeeseen luoda pelkoja hälventävä tila sekä viihtyisä työympäristö aikuisille. | Mindset is a public artwork designed and created by fifth-grade children under my mentoring, in collaboration with school staff and healthcare professionals, for the school’s waiting room. The space is used to wait for appointments with the school counselor, doctor, and nurse, and the artwork responded to the need to create a space that alleviates fears and provides a comfortable working environment for adults.

Metsä on suuri, koko seinään vaneripiirroksina muotoutuva teos, jonka olen tehnyt yhdessä koulun 1.–2.-luokkalaisten kanssa. Teoksen pohjana ovat lasten tekemät piirrokset puista eri tuuliolosuhteissa. Parivuotinen julkisen taiteen projekti alkoi oppilaiden kanssa purevassa pakkasessa Vähärauman koulun tyhjältä tontilta kuuntelukävelyillä. | The Forest is a large work of art, consisting of plywood drawings covering an entire wall, which I created together with 1st and 2nd graders at the school. The work is based on drawings of trees in different wind conditions made by the children. The two-year public art project began with the pupils on a bitterly cold day on the empty grounds of the Vähärauma school, sensing the empty area by sound walking.

Teosprosessissa hahmotettiin oman kehon muuntumista joksikin toiseksi. | Sea Monsters is a work of art consisting of photographs that I created together with young people with special needs. The creative process involved imagining the transformation of one’s own body into something else.

Välitunti oli oppilaiden piirosten pohjalta kokoamani noin 12 metrinen maalattu metalliveistos. Veistos tuhoutui ilmoittamatta koulun purkamisen yhteydessä. | The Recess was a 12-meter painted metal sculpture that I assembled based on the students’ drawings. The sculpture was destroyed without notice when the school was demolished.
